Who We Are

Eta Mu Chapter: Background & Mission  
​Chartered on April 20, 1968, the Eta Mu Chapter was proudly established in Modesto, California, with the support of Alpha Epsilon—Modesto’s founding chapter. Our inaugural officers were officially installed during a historic meeting at the Modesto Junior College Student Center, brought together by six Chi State officers and dedicated members from Modesto's three sister chapters. As a dedicated chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (Area XVII, California State Organization), our mission is to promote the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
Today, Eta Mu's vibrant community is composed of both active and retired educators, school librarians, and speech therapists, from all levels of education who share a deep passion for learning, mentorship, and community service. We are always eager to welcome new members who share our dedication to uplifting the teaching profession and supporting the next generation of leaders in education. We are deeply committed to empowering our members through targeted professional development and new knowledge, helping each educator reach their full potential.
Beyond our professional growth, we actively support one another personally and professionally through regular meetings and events, ensuring we stay informed on critical educational and community issues.

DKG's History

Established in 1929, Delta Kappa Gamma has attained major objectives in improving opportunities for qualified women employed at every level of education, as well as in advancing the status of women educators.
The California Organization, previously known as Chi State, was established in 1936. This year DKG California celebrate it's 90th year as an organization of leading women educators.

• Support for Early-career Educators through chapter projects in local communities
• Support for Schools for Africa through the US Fund for UNICEF.
